AEO and AI-Friendly Websites: Make the Information Easier to Understand

There is no magic AI-citation tag. Clear, factual, well-structured pages with identifiable sources and useful context are a stronger foundation than trying to write for a particular answer engine.

Answer the real question directly

Pages should make important facts easy to find. Put the answer near the question, then provide the detail, conditions and evidence a reader needs to trust and use it.

Use consistent names and facts

Business names, locations, services, authorship and policies should not contradict one another across pages. Consistency makes information easier for both people and machines to interpret.

Structure information semantically

Descriptive headings, lists, tables where appropriate and valid structured data can clarify relationships. Schema should describe content that is actually visible; it is not a substitute for useful page copy.

Show sources for claims that need verification

When discussing standards, laws, research or changing public information, link to authoritative sources. This improves reader trust and makes it easier to distinguish facts from marketing claims.

Do not manufacture question pages at scale

Publishing hundreds of shallow FAQs or city-and-service combinations for search coverage is unlikely to create a strong resource. Build pages around meaningful questions and consolidate overlap.

Write so a human can act on the answer

A technically accurate paragraph can still be unhelpful if it does not explain what the reader should consider next. Useful answer-oriented content connects facts to decisions.

Make facts easy to extract without writing mechanically

Important facts can be stated in complete direct sentences: service areas, policies, prices, dates, capacities or definitions. Follow a concise answer with conditions and context. This helps readers scan while preserving enough detail to understand the answer correctly.

Separate first-party facts from general claims

A business is authoritative about its own services, policies and operating details. For accessibility standards, laws or search documentation, cite the organization responsible for the information. Clear sourcing improves trust whether or not an AI system ever cites the page.

Keep structured data honest

Use schema types that match visible content and actual entities. Do not add ratings, FAQs, locations or services to markup when the page does not support them. Structured data describes content; it is not a place to hide extra marketing claims.
